Activity Time: Journaling

Writing is a core part of literacy for both readers and pre-readers. Our experiences will be recorded for textbooks and teen dystopias alike. Now is a great time to have your kids both young and old start writing!

Start small with specific questions: What did you do today? What did you eat? What game did you play? What did you laugh about? What would you normally be doing?

If you and your child are enjoying this, try keeping a more regular journal. Write down or record your day-to-day experiences, thoughts and feelings about what is happening in the world and how you are feeling about it.

This can be a wonderful way for your child to express their feelings as well as having a record to share with someone in the future.

While your child is writing, try modeling for them and keep your own journal! Writing is good for you too!
