This week’s mindfulness moment is inspired by something called GISH. It stands for Greatest International Scavenger Hunt and was started by a man named Misha Collins. Here’s the link for folks who would like to know more: https://hunt.gish.com/
There was a mini hunt last Saturday and my family got ‘together’ as a team to join in the fun from the safety of our individual homes.
We had a blast and, more importantly, it took our minds off everything in the news these days.
I propose that you create your own mini scavenger hunt. GISH teams, including all ages, get several challenges and they work to complete as many as possible.
Challenges range from very creative (like ‘make a portrait of someone you admire using only garbage’ or ‘draw your favorite celebrity with toothpaste on a mirror’) to silly (like, ‘have the oldest person in your home teach the youngest person a dance and vice versa’ or ‘recreate a favorite album cover’) to inspirational (like ‘decorate a window to thank essential workers’ or ‘write or email someone who made a difference in your life and thank them’).
You are only limited by your imagination. I’d love to see what you come up with! Post pictures with what your challenge was and how you accomplished it to our Waunakee Public Library facebook page #mindfulnessfun
The main purpose of GISH is always to raise money for a worthy cause. This years mini hunt was to provide relief to those hardest hit by the covid pandemic. Consider making a family donation to the relief efforts of your choosing.
